No other buttons seem to register a change and even pressing the Power button on the unit does not make anything happen. However, the drivers for the scanner were not installed. The outlet is working fine it never actually short circuited or required a reset but I did it anyways nothing else plugged into the outlet either. During the setup Windows 10 recognized my HP LaserJet 1536dnf printer and installed the drivers automatically.

I dried the cord head, tried shaking any water out didn't hear any it, it could only have been a small amount and tried pressing the reset button on the outlet and the plug head. It seemed impossible that water got in there somehow, but it clearly did. It sits in the corner of my shed plastic rubbermaid shed that's pretty old and when the storms really blow, rain will sometimes leak in.

There's a small crack in the plug head that might be how water got in it. As I pulled the plug out I noticed water dripping down the plug head and cord.
